AP Govt Declared Sri Rama Navami General Holiday On March 26

Sri Rama Navami holiday changed from March 25 to March 26

AP State Sri Rama Navami Holiday Date changed from 25th March (Sunday) to 26th March (Monday). Andhra Pradesh state government has declared the holiday on March 26 on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami. General Administration Department of AP has issued G.O RT No.680 dated 23rd March regarding change of holiday.

The Commissioner of Endowment Department, Vijayawada wrote a letter to state govt to change the holiday instead of 25th March. Accordingly, the govt has carefully examined the matter and issued a gazette notification in partial modification to the notice issued earlier.

All the departments may observe and follow the holiday as per the notification published instead of Mar 25th.

AP State Sri Rama Navami Holiday Date Notification

In partial modification of the orders issued in G.O.Rt.No.2437, General Administration (Poll.B) Department, dated 31st October 2017, notifying the General Holidays and Optional Holidays, the Government hereby declare 26 Mar 2018 (MONDAY) as General Holiday on the occasion of SRI RAMA NAVAMI instead of 25 Mar 2018 (SUNDAY).

The Commissioner of Printing, Stationery & Stores Purchase (Publication Wing), Vijayawada will publish the above Notification in the next issue of Andhra Pradesh State Extra-Ordinary Gazette. The Commissioner, Information & Public Relations, Vijayawada will give extensive publicity through media.

Rama is the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama was born on Navami Tithi during Madhyahna period which is middle of Hindu day Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Rama in each year. The festival is a part of the spring Navratri and falls on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha.
